If the response isn’t quite right, you’ll have the chance to refine your question.
3. Submit for verification
Once you’re satisfied that LawY has adequately addressed your question, submit the Al response for verification by one of our verified Canadian lawyers.
4. Receive verified response
Once one of our verified Canadian lawyers has verified LawY’s Algenerated response you will be notified.

How do I access LawY in DivorceMate?
You can access LawY by clicking the LawY button in the top right corner of a matter. A new window will open where you can start your conversation with LawY. LawY is only available to users in the new DivorceMate Cloud platform. If you can’t see the LawY button when you are in a matter, you are likely using our Legacy Desktop or Legacy Cloud software. Click here to transition into DivorceMate’s newest software and start using LawY today.
Do I need DivorceMate to use LawY?
LawY is only available with your DivorceMate or LEAP Software subscription. LawY is not sold separately.
Is there an additional fee for LawY?
There is no additional cost for LawY and it is not sold separately. LawY is included with your DivorceMate subscription.

What sources of information does LawY draw from?
LawY uses CanLii and verified legal answers for its information.
How can we address client confidentiality issues?
LawY is a secure external portal. It does not search your DivorceMate files and it does not have direct access to any confidential data. The only information that LawY can see from your DivorceMate Software is your province of practice and the area of family law. It does not have access to any confidential or personal identifying information. You should never enter confidential or personal identifying information into a LawY conversation.
Do you keep info or data from the questions we ask the AI program?
LawY stores your conversation history, however it is strictly ring-fenced to your firm. Information is only stored and used in LawY. The questions you ask are stored in your conversation history and never used by our knowledge database.
What jurisdictions and what areas of law is LawY applicable to?
LawY is specific to the province and jurisdiction you are working in. LawY covers all areas of law in Ontario, BC and Alberta.
Is LawY similar to using other AI technology?
LawY has many advantages over other AI products since LawY is specifically designed for legal professionals. Every time a verified answer is completed it goes into LawY’s ever-growing verified legal knowledge base. Other databases use more generic information without any lawyer verification.
Does LawY have protections against imaginary information or hallucinations (i.e., if LawY does not have an answer, does it make it up)?
LawY has taken measures to limit hallucinations by building up our priority verified information knowledge base. This knowledge base is ever-expanding and strengthens the accuracy of future AI answers. However, no AI is immune to hallucinations and users remain responsible for ensuring that the AI answer and the verified answer are accurate in the context of your matter.
